Ivy

With my hand held tightly in his, Hunter led me back to our table, where we got Grayson to assist with getting the car from the valet. Maya nodded at our hands and offered a subtle wink. A blush settled on my cheeks in response.

Following Grayson to the valet station, Hunter shrugged out of his jacket and draped it across my shuddering shoulders. Once the valet brought out the car, I made my way around the large vehicle to grab my bag.

“So, you gonna to tell us where you’re going?” Grayson asked Hunter as he opened up the trunk.

“Nope,” Hunter replied, grabbing both of our duffel bags and hoisting them over his shoulder, his arms flexing underneath his white shirt.

“Does Ivy know where you’re going?” Gray asked, lowering the door and handing the keys back to the valet driver. The young man scurried around the large car and drove off, leaving us standing, and shivering, on the steps of the country club.

“Nope.” Hunter popped and lifted his eyes to meet mine. “We’ll see you sometime tomorrow.” His words sent a warm and coiling shiver up my spine. Something about him always got my adrenaline moving.

“Well, I’m lowering the rules for traveling back to the coast. You can return to the living room, but only the living room.” Grayson emphasized the last part by raising his eyebrows.

Hunter shook his head. “Got it.”

Grayson stepped up to me and crushed me into a hug. Whispering loud enough for Hunter to hear, he said, “If he does anything weird, you have full permission to jump back to our house too.”

I giggled as he loosened his hold. “Should I be afraid to be alone with him?”

Glancing over Gray’s broad shoulder, I saw Hunter roll his eyes.

Grayson shrugged. “I mean, if shit gets too kinky—” He stopped abruptly as he got a tap to the back of the head from Hunter. “Call me if you need anything.” The twin laughed loudly as he turned and made his way inside.

I tried to stifle my giggles but failed monumentally. Damn prosecco. I still needed that glass of water. I pulled the suit jacket closer around my body to keep the warmth in. “Should I be worried?”

Hunter scoffed and shook his head. Extending his free hand, I placed my palm in his, warm tingles spiraling up my arm as we crossed the parking lot toward a copse of fir trees on the far side of the manicured landscaping.

As we slinked out of sight behind the tree line, Hunter released my hand and pulled out his stone from his pocket. Rubbing his thumb across the smooth surface, his eyes locked onto mine. Our breath was visible in the cold air as the blue light started to ebb into focus beside us. Hunter didn’t take his eyes off mine as he corralled me toward the portal. With adrenaline and heat coursing through my veins, I obeyed—the warm electric feeling of walking through the portal singing through my body.
